The squid was a squid - nothing special about him, except he had fallen for a mermaid. That was the first time in history known for a squid to 'fall'. Squids aren't creatures normally associated with romance, mostly. Well it is hard to imagine someone from the family of octopus, which is quite large, to fall in love.
The deed was done. The squid had decided to further pursue his affection and proclaim his love to her, the mermaid.
The first time the squid had seen the mermaid, that's when he fell in love. He was just wandering, like always and then he heard her 'laughing'. All his life, so far, he cursed and cursed the silence of the ocean which made him feel deaf. Through all this, her laughter, heard, was like bells, jingling, dangling from Eden, though he didn't know what that meant. That's all and he knew it, he loved her.
