It is a young adult fiction about two boys who have strange diseases--- actually side effects which occurred from an experiment (*spoiler*) years ago. The protagonists of the story, Oliver and Moritz are basically loners and seek the comfort of each other. What starts out as contemporary fiction changes into melodramatic sci-fi, what is that? The contemporary side of the story has the warmth in it which holds onto you, somehow barely, while the latter side gives you mixed feelings. You'd almost wish that you'd stop reading further and be satisfied somehow with what you expected. The idea behind this pallet with different colours of genres was great and appreciated, but there should have been more polishing to the way the colours changed, the way there was suddenly a different emotion brought into play in the story. Considering it's a young adult fiction, it'll appeal to the teens and adult, both, to a certain extent. In the end, the immaturity of the story is felt. This immaturity confuses the reader. There is also the disappointment that story ended pretty early and on an not-so-interesting note.
