To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee

The ultimate writer's debut of 20th century, which won accolades all over the world, is like the Russian Dolls. It has a unique story, every feature of which opens up a smaller version of the feature. It's like having a picture of a sweater that your Grand mom knit for you, but being able to see all the threads clearly. Each thread having a different, a vibrance and a twist of its own. The cherry on top is Lee's language and her originality. You can’t define this book as a page turner because wherever one might stop reading it, one would remain pleased. The characters, all of them, have their quirks, desires, grief and hope. The reader is able to see right through them. The transparency that Lee manages to maintain (very simply, that too) is indeed commendable. After the book ends, there is a heart-warming feeling that rushes up to the reader from the book. On the whole, it’s not a thriller or a page turner, but a good cozy read with a mug of hot chocolate.
