This flick of the year 1997, the year that marked motley of
films, films like Titanic, As Good As It Gets, L.A. Confidential and not to
forget The Full Monty were all brilliant. But in all that hype, stood Good Will
Hunting, penned down by Matt Damon ( as a assignment for a playwriting class )
and Ben Affleck, starring Robin Williams and the writers of the film with also
Stellan and Minnie Driver.
Good Will Hunting is a journey, a quirky journey that was
well written. This quirky journey is actually quite predictable and might be fairly
common to some but intensely rich at the same time. Plus the psychological
aspect of the film is quite believable since it is comprehensible for a human to
sidestep responsibility and shove the blame, that concept was well grasped. The
fragility that gets denied by the main character, Will Hunting is also found
quite common in people and that is executed vividly.
The cast has done a brilliant job especially
Robin Williams who displayed a full spectrum of emotions in his role with that
beard which he grew for his role. Minnie Driver executed her part quite
plausibly. Matt Damon played his part as Will Hunting well by showing
acknowledgement of the complexity and the torment during personal growth
exceptionally.
This movie has a real slice of life and could be watched
again and again and still it would ignite something inside.
